Former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya recently shared his perspective on the direction of Indian cricket, singling out fifteen-year-old batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as a valuable long-term asset. During a team jersey launch event for the Mumbai Royals and Maharashtra Super Strikers, Jayasuriya advised that the teenager should be encouraged to express his natural style while authorities cultivate his raw potential.
He also praised Abhishek Sharma as a complete, versatile performer who hits all parts of the ground effectively. In addition, Jayasuriya touched on Sri Lanka's upcoming tour of India in December, noting that strong momentum from their tri-series campaign against Pakistan and England should boost the squad's morale.
He concluded by expressing his support for the modern trend of batsmen dominating white-ball formats, viewing the high-scoring nature of the game as a positive development.
