The College GameDay panel split opinions ahead of Saturday’s showdown between UCLA and Oregon, with ESPN analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Bryce Young backing the Bruins to upset the Ducks on the road. Despite Oregon’s deeper roster and a 69.5% win probability from Pro Football Network’s College Football Playoff Meter, Herbstreit and Young—joining only a handful of other pundits—predicted UCLA’s 21st-ranked offense would overcome the Ducks’ 13th-ranked defense.
The Bruins, led by first-year coach Bob Chesney, enter the matchup undefeated at 4-0, including two Big Ten wins, while Oregon faces a key injury to starting quarterback Dante Moore, who sits out with a concussion. Dylan Raiola, a transfer from Nebraska, will make his first start for the Ducks after stepping in for Moore following a hit at USC that required him to be stretchered off the field.
UCLA’s offense, featuring quarterback Nico Iamaleava, has shown explosive potential, rushing for 266 yards in a 54-3 win over Maryland last month, while Raiola has impressed in Moore’s absence with two strong performances, including a 289-yard, two-touchdown game against USC.
