Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese is receiving high praise for her performance during the WNBA Finals against the Golden State Valkyries. ESPN analyst Chiney Ogwumike has already named Reese her choice for Finals MVP, citing her averages of over 21 points and 13 rebounds per game, as well as the team's undefeated record when she makes a three-pointer.
Reese, who previously earned the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, has been credited with transforming the team's postseason success after joining the roster this season. Her improved shooting, developed under coach Carl Smesko, has been a key factor in the Dream's championship pursuit.
Teammate Allisha Gray previously identified Reese as the missing element needed to help the franchise overcome its history of early playoff exits.
