‘Probably the toughest team we’re going to face this season’: Deion Sanders talks Utes and Isaac Wilson

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders faces a formidable challenge this weekend as the Buffaloes welcome Utah, a team that has dominated its schedule so far. The Utes, led by first-year head coach Morgan Scalley, are riding a 5-0 record and have outscored opponents by an average of at least 14 points per game.

Their offense ranks ninth nationally, while Colorado’s struggles continue, with a 2-3 record and a three-game losing streak. Sanders, who previously coached against Scalley as Utah’s defensive coordinator, praised the former player’s transition into head coaching, calling it an impressive feat following legendary predecessor Kyle Whittingham.

The matchup in Boulder will feature former Ute quarterback Isaac Wilson, now starting for Colorado after a rocky debut that included three interceptions in a 29-7 loss to Texas Tech. Sanders has emphasized Wilson’s resilience, noting his ability to bounce back despite setbacks, a trait that could be crucial against Utah’s stout defense ranked 18th in the nation.
