New Zealand pace bowler Jacob Duffy has spoken highly of his former Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the upcoming five-match T20I series opener. Duffy, who worked alongside the Indian seamer during the 2026 IPL campaign, noted that he frequently sought advice from the veteran regarding variations such as yorkers and slower deliveries.
Bhuvneshwar returned to India's squad following a lengthy gap since his last international T20 appearance in the 2022 World Cup semi-final.
During the 2026 Indian Premier League season, Bhuvneshwar claimed twenty-eight wickets across sixteen appearances while maintaining an economy rate of 7.95, finishing just behind Kagiso Rabada in the wicket-taking charts. Duffy highlighted the Indian bowler's precision, ability to swing the ball, and tactical intelligence as traits that place him alongside Rabada among the premier competitors in the format.
The opening match of the bilateral series is scheduled to take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Thursday, October 22.
