"My Fault": Sabrina Ionescu Throws Herself Under the Bus Following Liberty’s OT Loss vs the Dream

Following a tight playoff matchup on October 4, 2026, New York guard Sabrina Ionescu shouldered the blame for a 101-98 overtime loss against the Atlanta Dream. The decisive sequence unfolded in the final moments of the extra period when an errant cross-court pass intended for Jonquel Jones sailed out of bounds, preventing a potential go-ahead shot.

Ionescu finished the contest with ten points on 37.5 percent shooting alongside seven assists, a significant decline from her previous twenty-seven-point performance. After the turnover forced New York into a desperate foul strategy, Naz Hillmon and Angel Reese successfully converted crucial free throws to secure the victory for Atlanta.
