Vijay Singh made a dramatic return to PGA Tour Champions competition with a two-shot victory at the SAS Championship, his first win in over three years. The 63-year-old golfer overcame a last-minute caddie crisis when his longtime bagman abruptly ended their partnership just days before the tournament, forcing a quick replacement.
Wayne De Haas, a former pro golfer and experienced caddie, stepped in and helped Singh secure a three-under 69 on Sunday to finish ahead of Ernie Els. Singh credited De Haas’ expertise, calling their reunion a game-changer that made the final round effortless.
The win marked Singh’s 35th PGA Tour victory and added to his legacy as a three-time major champion, proving his competitive edge remains intact despite his age. De Haas, who had previously caddied for players like Els and Cameron Young, also benefited from the unexpected opportunity after losing his own Korn Ferry Tour position earlier this year.
