'Love to play the situation' - Shreyas Iyer on his batting mindset

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer recently discussed his adaptable batting approach during an interview with JioStar, emphasizing that he shapes his innings around match circumstances rather than sticking to a rigid formula. Tracing this mindset back to his early domestic career with Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, he detailed how he utilizes powerplay restrictions and turns opposition bowling aggression to his advantage.

This flexible philosophy underpinned his strong form during the 2026 Indian Premier League season with Punjab Kings, where he amassed 309 runs across eight matches at a 61.80 average, highlighted by an unbeaten 71 against Delhi Capitals.
