Caitlin Clark’s future with the Indiana Fever is taking center stage as she weighs a potential Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract (EPIC) extension. The 2024 No.
1 overall pick delivered a standout rookie season, earning All-WNBA First Team honors and averaging 22.3 points per game in 2026 before the Fever fell to the Las Vegas Aces in the first round of the playoffs. Clark’s current deal—exercised through 2027—includes a 2026 salary of $528,846 and a 2027 team-option salary of $597,596, a significant jump from her rookie-scale earnings under the previous CBA.
Now, with the EPIC provision opening the door for a multi-year renegotiation, Clark has framed her decision beyond personal gain, emphasizing the team’s long-term roster construction and championship aspirations under the WNBA’s salary cap rules.
During an exit interview at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark acknowledged the complexity of her choice, stressing that she wants to ensure the Fever builds a competitive foundation. ‘There’s a lot to think about,’ she noted, highlighting the need to evaluate key signings and their value to the team’s future.
While she hasn’t ruled out the extension, Clark’s priority remains aligning her contract with Indiana’s broader goals—regardless of whether she stays or leaves, her commitment to winning remains unwavering.
