The UConn women’s basketball program is set to honor former star Azzi Fudd as part of its 'Huskies of Honor' on November 8, during the team’s home matchup against Iowa at Gampel Pavilion. Fudd, a two-time national champion with the Huskies, capped off her collegiate career by leading UConn to a 38-1 record in 2025-26, including a Final Four appearance, before being selected as the first overall pick in the WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.
Her induction follows a legacy of elite Huskies players, including Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart, who have also been recognized for their contributions to the program’s success. The 'Huskies of Honor' currently includes 30 inductees, spanning five national championship teams from the 1990s and 2000s, as well as iconic figures like Geno Auriemma and Rebecca Lobo.
Fudd’s addition comes just months after teammate Paige Bueckers, another former No. 1 WNBA Draft pick, was inducted in March 2025, solidifying the program’s tradition of celebrating its most impactful athletes.
The Huskies will open their season with an exhibition game against Syracuse on October 12 at Mohegan Sun Arena, a matchup with added significance after UConn defeated the Orange in last year’s NCAA Tournament. The women’s game tips off at 6:30 p.m.
ET, followed by the men’s contest at 7 p.m. ET, with both games airing on NBC Sports Boston.
The upcoming exhibition serves as a preview of the Huskies’ continued dominance, with Fudd and Bueckers now reunited as teammates in the WNBA.
