Veteran golfer Lee Westwood recently admitted that he remains completely unsigned for the upcoming 2027 season as the breakaway circuit struggles with ongoing instability following a bankruptcy filing and a shift in financial backing. During a recent podcast appearance, the English athlete described his current career status as unemployed after declining to sign the proposed league updates or alternative agreements.
While a potential revival backed by BC Partners requires a larger roster commitment before launching, the circuit's future remains clouded by missed deadlines and reduced prize funds.
Simultaneously, the DP World Tour has taken a rigid stance regarding players attempting to maintain dual membership. Leadership confirmed that future exemptions will not be granted, forcing athletes to select a single circuit moving forward.
Westwood faces a looming November deadline for his own tour decisions, noting that rejoining his former circuit would involve an extensive suspension period and delay his competitive starts until the spring. Even so, the veteran competitor already has informal plans to team up with his son for an amateur event early next year.
