'He was a no-brainer' - Albie Morkel on Joburg Super Kings signing Kieron Pollard

The Joburg Super Kings successfully acquired veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard for R1.5 million during the SA20 auction held on October 7, 2026. Head coach Albie Morkel praised the signing as an obvious choice, noting that Pollard remains highly motivated to compete and will provide essential leadership and experience to the squad.

League commissioner Graeme Smith also welcomed the move, highlighting the value of having such a seasoned competitor mentor younger players like Jason Rowles. Pollard, who currently holds coaching roles with Mumbai Indians affiliates, is nearing a milestone of 15,000 career T20 runs.
