Former WTA star Daniela Hantuchová has come forward with allegations of unprofessional conduct involving Iga Świątek and her team during the 2025 Madrid Open. Speaking on the Czech channel Canal+ Sport’s podcast, Hantuchová—who serves as part of the tournament’s management team—described two incidents where she claims Świątek and her psychologist, Daria Abramowicz, treated her with disrespect.
One involved Świątek handing her dirty laundry and asking for assistance, while another saw Abramowicz requesting warm chicken during a power outage that suspended play for a day. Hantuchová, a former World No.
5, dismissed the behavior as inappropriate for someone in Świątek’s position, though she ultimately handled the situations herself.
Świątek, meanwhile, advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Madrid Open before losing to Coco Gauff. More recently, she defeated Magdalena Frech in straight sets at the Wuhan Open, securing her place in the quarterfinals.
The six-time Grand Slam champion credited consistency over aggressive play in her victory, noting Frech’s relentless court coverage as a key factor in her strategy.
