The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has confirmed that Abhimanyu Easwaran will captain the Bengal team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, beginning with the opener against Delhi. The 31-year-old batter, known for his consistency in domestic cricket, will lead the side in their first match of the 2026-27 campaign, scheduled to start on October 11 in Kalyani.
Easwaran, who previously traveled with India’s Test squad earlier this year, was overlooked for a Test debut under head coach Gautam Gambhir and has since returned to domestic cricket. His most recent performance came in the Duleep Trophy final, where he scored 72 runs in both innings for the East Zone against the South Zone.
