Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels is projected to make his return within three weeks or less after avoiding a surgical procedure on his dislocated left elbow. The injury occurred during a Week 2 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys when teammate Chris Paul accidentally stepped on his foot, causing his arm to bend awkwardly.
Specialists examined the quarterback this week and determined that he will skip the injured reserve list entirely. While recovering, Marcus Mariota will step into the starting role for upcoming games against the Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers.
When Daniels eventually comes back to the field, he plans to wear protective gear on his elbow similar to what he used following a prior dislocation last season.
