Yorkshire v Somerset, Sussex v Nottinghamshire: County Championship cricket, day four – live

Under chilly conditions at Headingley, Somerset kept their title hopes alive during a gripping final day. Yorkshire's overnight pair, George Hill and Dom Bess, resisted for over a session while compiling a stubborn 166-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Craig Overton eventually ended the resistance by dismissing Hill for 89 via a top-edged pull, after which Bess departed for 77.

Chasing a target of 287, Somerset suffered an immediate blow when Josh Thomas was caught behind inside the opening over. Two additional dismissals followed quickly amid taunts from the field reminding the visitors of their empty trophy cabinet, but Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby steadied the ship until stumps, leaving Somerset needing 214 more runs for victory.
