Yankees Rivalry Roundup: AL West madness reaches new low

The New York Yankees and Baltimore split their rescheduled Friday doubleheader, as Baltimore dropped the opener ten to two before bouncing back with a six to three victory behind seventeen combined strikeouts from Ryan Yarbrough and Will Warren. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Philadelphia Phillies two to zero behind a shutout performance featuring Freddy Peralta and a forty-first save by Bryan Baker, despite a ten-strikeout outing from Philadelphia's Cristopher Sánchez.

In other action, the Boston Red Sox secured the fifth seed and a postseason series against the Yankees by overcoming an early deficit to defeat the Chicago Cubs four to three, aided by scoreless relief work from Jake Bennett, Greg Weissert, and Raymond Burgos.
