Yankees news: The Wild Card Series begins

The New York Yankees opened their postseason strongly by defeating the Boston Red Sox 9-0 in the Wild Card Series opener, led by a brilliant 10-strikeout performance over 6.1 innings by pitcher Cam Schlittler. Aaron Judge missed the roster due to a moderate right calf strain despite attempting batting practice using experimental platelet poor plasma injections, though Giancarlo Stanton and Trent Grisham were activated as depth options.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox lost leadoff hitter Roman Anthony in the sixth inning after hand and wrist issues flared up following an awkward check-swing.
