Yale quarterback Dante Reno delivered an emotional performance on Saturday, throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns to secure a 41-24 victory over Merrimack just one day after the passing of his father and former head coach, Tony Reno. The younger Reno decided to play through the difficult personal news, honoring his father, who had stepped down from his position prior to the 2026 campaign due to health concerns after compiling five Ivy League titles and an 83-49 career record.
South Carolina coach Shane Beamer also offered public support for the sophomore quarterback, recalling his own bond with the family.
