Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac poked fun at upcoming opponent Southampton through a promotional clip on social media ahead of Saturday's clash at the Racecourse Ground. The video highlighted browser sponsor Firefox while mocking last term's illicit surveillance controversy, in which Southampton forfeited their promotion play-off spot and suffered a four-point penalty after an intern spied on Middlesbrough's practice, alongside prior reconnaissance at Oxford United and Ipswich Town.

While senior figures within the English Football League deemed the video disrespectful, Saints manager Tonda Eckert stated that the gag did not alter his mindset, though he admitted finding the ordeal unfunny.

The Welsh outfit previously mocked the espionage on their published calendar by marking an inspection for unauthorized personnel at their complex two days before this fixture. On the pitch, Southampton currently occupy ninth position with ten points, holding a three-point cushion over nineteenth-placed Wrexham after seven rounds.

Phil Parkinson's squad will seek to rebound from a recent 6-0 thrashing by West Ham United while avenging a 5-1 home defeat suffered at the hands of the Saints back in April.
