Wings trade idea adds WNBA champion sharpshooter to help Paige Bueckers

The Dallas Wings are poised for a major roster upgrade as a proposed trade could bring WNBA champion sharpshooter Leonie Fiebich to the franchise. After struggling in 2024 and 2025, Dallas has transformed under star guard Paige Bueckers, returning to the playoffs in 2026 and setting the stage for a deeper postseason run in 2027.

To bolster their defense and scoring, the Wings are reportedly eyeing a four-player deal involving the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces. In the trade, Dallas would send 2025 Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith to New York in exchange for Fiebich, a versatile forward known for her elite three-point shooting (41% or better in each of her three seasons) and disruptive defense (posting individual defensive ratings of 100 and 106 in 2024 and 2025).

The Liberty, facing a salary cap crunch, could be motivated to move Fiebich, whose contract extension could reach nearly $1 million annually—a financial burden Dallas might be willing to absorb to strengthen their roster.
