Wings Need More From Jessica Shepard Beside Paige Bueckers to Avoid Valkyries Sweep

The Golden State Valkyries opened their postseason run with a commanding 104-80 victory over the Dallas Wings, fueled by a 50 percent shooting performance from beyond the arc and 15 points capitalized from ten turnovers. Cecilia Zandalasini, Tiffany Hayes, and Gabby Williams all surpassed the 20-point mark for Golden State, while Paige Bueckers stood as the sole 20-point contributor for Dallas with 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting, alongside six rebounds and two assists.

To avoid a sweep in the upcoming contest, the shorthanded Wings—playing without injured teammates Azzi Fudd and Alanna Smith—will require a significant offensive rebound from All-Star starter Jessica Shepard. During the opening matchup, Shepard went scoreless across 24 minutes after missing all seven field-goal attempts, adding just three rebounds, three assists, and three turnovers to her struggles.
