Former Utah quarterback Isaac Wilson will lead Colorado against his alma mater this weekend, creating an intriguing dynamic in a matchup where both teams are moving in starkly different directions. Wilson, a four-star recruit from Corner Canyon High School, was once seen as Utah’s quarterback of the future after setting a state record with 5,901 total yards of offense in high school and winning the 2023 state championship.
He committed to Utah over offers from Oregon, Miami, UCLA, Oklahoma State, and BYU, where his brother Zach had played, and was expected to develop under Andy Ludwig’s system before potentially taking over in 2025. However, his freshman season at Utah was derailed by injuries and struggles, including a seven-game losing streak as the starter, finishing with 1,510 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing just 56.4% of his passes.
The Utes will now face Wilson’s new team, the Buffaloes, with Colorado coach Deion Sanders confirming Wilson as the starter for the game at Folsom Field.
