Why snubbed Pitt vs. Virginia Tech is making college football history in Week 5

An unprecedented college football matchup is set for Week 5 as the undefeated Pitt Panthers visit the unbeaten Virginia Tech Hokies, marking the first time two unranked, power-conference programs with perfect records face each other. Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi expressed frustration over preseason polls that left both squads outside the AP top 25, despite the Panthers opening 4-0 behind standout quarterback Mason Heintschel and a defense conceding just 8.5 points per contest.

Opposing them is a 4-0 Hokies squad guided by head coach James Franklin, who has secured victories over VMI, Old Dominion, Maryland, and Boston College. Virginia Tech relies on quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer alongside rushers Jeffrey Overton Jr.

and Marcellous Hawkin Jr., entering the Friday night showdown as slight 2.5-point favorites at home.
