Why RCB's Overseas Puzzle Could Open IPL Door For Shai Hope

Ravichandran Ashwin has publicly endorsed West Indies captain Shai Hope for an upcoming IPL contract, suggesting that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru could be a suitable landing spot for the batter. Hope has enjoyed a prolific tour of India, accumulating 539 runs across seven white-ball appearances, which includes four centuries and five half-centuries.

His recent performance in Hyderabad featured an unbeaten 102 from 50 deliveries, further cementing his status as a high-impact player. Since the start of 2024, Hope has maintained a T20I average of 39.76 with a strike rate near 149, totaling 1,511 runs in the format.

While Ashwin believes Hope is a top-tier candidate for the auction, he noted that the final decision may hinge on how franchises manage their overseas player slots.
