Why isn't Jazz Chisholm playing? Volpe in Yankees lineup vs Red Sox

Manager Aaron Boone opted to keep Jazz Chisholm out of the starting lineup for the postseason opener against Boston, slotting Anthony Volpe into the batting order instead. Boone noted that facing rookie left-hander Payton Tolle influenced the decision, pointing out Tolle's effective fastball against hitters who have struggled with that pitch lately.

Chisholm previously expressed frustration over the prospect of sitting, while Boone emphasized that a full roster effort is required for the three-game series. New York's lineup also features Paul Goldschmidt, Ben Rice, Heliot Ramos, Cody Bellinger, George Lombard Jr., Amed Rosario, Spencer Jones, and Austin Wells.
