
Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek moved quickly to lock up young defenseman Tristan Luneau on a six-year, $43.2 million contract extension prior to the start of the new campaign. Although the 22-year-old blueliner has only appeared in 14 regular-season contests at the top level, club leadership views him as a foundational piece for their top four following strong production in the American Hockey League with the San Diego Gulls.
The organization also sought to prevent potential offer sheets next July after facing a steep RFA market that previously impacted team financial planning with other roster members.
