Who 'battled impressively' for Scots? And how did you rate players?

September 29, 2026

Scotland suffered a comprehensive three-goal defeat against Switzerland during their latest Nations League fixture, which marked the opening home fixture under manager Sebastian Pocognoli. The task became exceptionally difficult for the hosts shortly after kickoff when Jack Hendry received a straight red card following a clumsy foul on Dan Ndoye, reducing the team to ten men.

Ricardo Rodriguez opened the scoring with a powerful free-kick past Angus Gunn, while Nico Elvidi and Zeki Amdouni added further goals to secure the commanding victory for the visitors.

Following the match, player evaluations highlighted mixed individual performances during the difficult encounter. Angus Gunn made several saves either side of halftime despite conceding three times, while Oli McBurnie earned praise for a resilient lone display upfront after Kieron Bowie was withdrawn early.

Other squad members including Andy Robertson, Scott McKenna, Luis Binks, Nathan Patterson, Lewis Ferguson, Billy Gilmour, John McGinn, and Stephen Welsh saw action as the team struggled to contain the Swiss control.
