White Sox sweep aside Astros to end 21-year wait for playoff series win

The Chicago White Sox secured their initial postseason series victory since capturing the 2005 championship by defeating the Houston Astros 7-3 to complete a sweep of their American League Wild Card matchup. Chase Meidroth provided the crucial offensive spark early on with a three-run home run during a productive opening frame at the plate.

Manager Will Venable guided the club to this milestone triumph, which was notably accompanied by a message of encouragement from Pope Leo XIV. Advancing past Houston, the Chicago squad will now travel to take on the Cleveland Guardians in the upcoming American League Division Series starting on Saturday.
