White Sox pounce early, finish sweep of Astros for first playoff series win since 2005

The Chicago White Sox completed a sweep of the Houston Astros with a 7-3 victory on Wednesday, securing their first postseason series triumph since capturing the World Series in 2005. Chase Meidroth contributed a three-run home run to an aggressive opening frame that chased Houston starting pitcher Hunter Brown early after defensive miscues compounded his struggles.

Under manager Will Venable and carrying a message of encouragement from Pope Leo, the surging franchise advanced to an AL Division Series matchup against the Cleveland guardians. Notably, this postseason berth marks an unprecedented turnaround for a club that suffered 100 losses in each of the preceding three campaigns.
