The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to finalize the 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand within the next two to three days, according to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. The series, set to begin on November 4 in Auckland, will see India fielding a split squad, with some players preparing for the subsequent two-Test series starting November 19 in Wellington.
Fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are scheduled to undergo Return to Play (RTP) tests on October 24 or 26 at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, which could influence their selection for the ODI squad.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has emerged as a strong candidate for his maiden ODI call-up after impressive performances in the recent List A series against Australia A in Puducherry. The 23-year-old, who previously played three T20Is for India, returned from a hamstring injury and delivered standout performances with both bat and ball, including a four-wicket haul and a crucial 66-run knock in the final One-dayer.
With Hardik Pandya sidelined due to injuries and Nitish Kumar Reddy struggling in his role, Shedge’s rise offers a fresh dynamic to India’s ODI lineup ahead of the New Zealand tour.
