What we learned: Chad Tracy, bullpen and historically bad offense sink Red Sox

Boston suffered a quick elimination in the Wild Card Series following a two-game sweep by New York. The team established an unwanted franchise low by enduring a scoreless playoff drought that stretched across 14.2 innings before being snapped by Willson Contreras in the sixth frame.

Manager Chad Tracy faced heavy scrutiny for his tactical decisions, specifically lifting starting pitchers Payton Tolle and Sonny Gray early in favor of reliever Erik Miller, whose subsequent matchup with Cody Bellinger resulted in a crucial run.
