What's next for Vikings after J.J. McCarthy trade? Free agent, draft options for 2027

The Minnesota Vikings have officially parted ways with quarterback J.J. McCarthy after dealing him to the New York Giants on September 28.

Having made only ten starts across more than two seasons and failing to secure the primary backup spot behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz, the former first-round selection was sent to help the Giants following a season-ending injury to Jaxson Dart. Meanwhile, the undefeated Vikings hold a 3-0 record while evaluating their long-term signal-caller outlook heading into future drafts and free agency periods.
