What made Ferrari F1 protege Rafael Camara the “clear choice” for Haas

Haas has finalized its 2027 Formula 1 driver lineup by signing Ferrari academy prospect Rafael Camara. The 21-year-old Brazilian, currently leading the Formula 2 standings, secured the seat after outperforming rivals Leonardo Fornaroli, Jack Doohan, and Ryo Hirakawa during a dedicated evaluation session.

Team principal Ayao Komatsu cited Camara's exceptional natural pace and composure under changing track conditions as the deciding factors in his selection to replace Esteban Ocon. Camara is slated to join Ollie Bearman, who is expected to remain with the squad for his third campaign.

Komatsu noted that the team's ongoing partnership with Ferrari was instrumental in providing access to the academy talent pool, allowing them to identify and test Camara's capabilities.
