Haas has officially secured Ferrari junior Rafael Camara for a multi-year Formula 1 contract beginning in 2027, where he will take over the seat currently held by Esteban Ocon. The 21-year-old Brazilian is currently leading the Formula 2 standings with three feature race victories this season, maintaining a seven-point advantage over Nikola Tsolov with two events remaining.
Camara earned the promotion after impressing team leadership during a private evaluation session. Team principal Ayao Komatsu praised the driver's adaptability and performance during that assessment, noting his potential to thrive within the organization.
If Camara secures the current F2 title, he will join a select group of drivers who have achieved consecutive championships in the top two tiers of the junior ladder.
