The Washington Huskies defense is preparing for a new kind of challenge as they enter Big Ten play against Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey. Unlike previous mobile opponents who led their teams in rushing during non-conference games, Lindsey operates primarily as a pocket passer.
Washington defensive coordinator Ryan Walters will look to lean on a front seven that currently surrenders just 105.6 yards per contest on the ground.
While Minnesota works through an injury to running back Darius Taylor, the Huskies hope to force Lindsey into obvious passing situations and capitalize on their ball-hawking secondary. Safety Alex McLaughlin anchors a defensive unit that has already recorded five interceptions through the first three matchups of the year under head coach Jedd Fisch.
Facing this traditional passing attack will test Washington's depth as they continue their conference schedule.
