Warwickshire ease past Essex to go top: County Championship cricket, day two – as it happened

Warwickshire secured an eight-wicket win over Essex inside two days to climb to the summit of the County Championship table. Spinner Manav Suthar was the catalyst for the triumph, propelling his side into first place.

Elsewhere, Somerset suffered a disastrous opening 25 minutes, collapsing to 86 for eight against their opponents. Ben Cliff did significant damage with the ball, having Leach caught behind by Bairstow before narrowly missing out on a hat-trick.
