Golden State coach Steve Kerr confirmed that Stephen Curry left Sunday’s open practice at the Chase Center early after a brief ankle issue, but said the veteran guard was examined in the training room and was fine. Sources close to the team indicated the sprain is not serious and Curry is expected to be ready for the season opener on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Curry, 38, missed 39 games last year because of a runner’s knee, finishing with 26.6 points per game and shooting 46.8 percent from the floor. The Warriors also begin the campaign dealing with the loss of Kristaps Porzingis, who announced an indefinite absence, and Jimmy Butler, who is projected to return in late January or early February.
Curry recently signed a two‑year, $116 million extension that includes a player option after the 2028‑29 season.
