The Golden State Valkyries made a defensive statement in their second WNBA season, earning three spots on the league’s All-Defense teams. Gabby Williams secured her third All-Defense honor—her second consecutive first-team selection—while Veronica Burton and Kiah Stokes were named to the second team, marking their second and third All-Defense appearances, respectively.
Golden State’s dominance on that end was underscored by a league-leading defensive rating of 99.1, a full nine points better than the next-best mark, as the team stifled opponents all season long. Their defensive prowess will be on full display in the WNBA Finals, where they face the Atlanta Dream, who also claimed three All-Defense selections with Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard, and Jordin Canada.
With six of the ten All-Defense players meeting in the championship series, fans can expect a battle of elite defensive units when the Finals begin tomorrow.
