The USC Trojans, currently ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25, remain on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoffs despite recent momentum.
After a tough loss to Oregon earlier in the season, the Trojans have rebounded with a 6-1 record, including a key win over Washington and a road victory at Penn State. However, ESPN’s latest bowl projections continue to exclude them from the CFP, with analysts Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach still envisioning USC in either the Holiday Bowl or Las Vegas Bowl.
Schlabach’s latest projection now pairs the Trojans against Wake Forest—a potential first-ever meeting—following the Demon Deacons’ strong 6-1 start and Pittsburgh’s recent struggles in the ACC. With five games left in the regular season, USC’s path to a playoff spot remains uncertain, even as coach Lincoln Riley’s team looks to build on recent wins.
