USC suspends linebacker Desman Stephens II one game for Oregon conduct

Following a 41-27 defeat against Oregon on their home turf, the USC football program handed linebacker Desman Stephens II a one-game suspension. The disciplinary action stems from an incident during the match where Stephens delivered a hit that removed opposing quarterback Dante Moore from competition, followed immediately by an inappropriate on-field celebration while medical attention was being administered.

Both the player and head coach Lincoln Riley issued public apologies regarding the conduct, acknowledging the seriousness of the injury and accepting the penalties.

Without Stephens available for selection, the Trojans return to action next weekend at the same venue to host Washington. The upcoming contest is scheduled to begin mid-afternoon on Saturday, with national television coverage provided by NBC.
