USC football’s slumping defense faces massive uncertainty amid multiple injuries

The Southern California football squad heads into its upcoming matchup with Washington facing significant personnel concerns. Linebacker Desman Stephens II must sit out due to a suspension stemming from a heavy collision last weekend, while defensive contributors Alex VanSumeren, Alex Graham, and Jahkeem Stewart all carry questionable designations heading into the weekend.

Head coach Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Gary Patterson will rely on roster depth to compensate for the potential absences. On the offensive side, wide receiver Corey Simms remains unavailable for a second straight week, though teammate Trent Mosley holds a questionable status as he recovers from a lingering knee problem.
