UNC to face new quarterback in October 10 road battle with Pitt

North Carolina enters its upcoming road contest against undefeated Pittsburgh facing a major shift at the opposing team's helm. Following a narrow defeat to third-ranked Notre Dame, the Tar Heels prepare for a Panthers squad that recently lost starting signal-caller Mason Heintschel to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Heintschel suffered the season-ending injury during a victory over Virginia Tech, leaving veteran reserve Holden Geriner to pilot the offense for the remainder of the year.
