UCF defeated the No. 2 ranked BYU Cougars 39-31 in double overtime to claim their first victory over a top-five opponent in school history.
The Knights' backup signal caller, Keyone Jenkins, led the charge with 293 passing yards, 35 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns, including a crucial score in the final seconds of the extra periods. After a controversial roughing-the-kicker penalty moved the ball to the four-yard line, Jenkins connected with Gabe Brousseau for the winning touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion attempt by Tyren Hornes.
BYU's Bear Bachmeier threw for three touchdowns but could not seal the win, as his final three passes from the four-yard line in double overtime were all incomplete. The game featured a chaotic ending to regulation, where a blocked field goal by UCF safety Faletau Satuala was recovered by BYU's Stone, but the play was nullified after Stone's helmet came off during the scramble.
This result marked the first time BYU has lost to an unranked team since falling to Kansas in November 2024.
