Tuchel: 99.9 per cent of fans I meet don't ask me about Argentina subs

England manager Thomas Tuchel insisted that the vast majority of supporters he encounters focus on memorable tournament moments rather than questioning his tactical choices during their World Cup exit. The German tactician had come under heavy fire after deploying three defenders while defending a second-half lead courtesy of Anthony Gordon in the semi-final against Argentina, a defensive shift that preceded an Enzo Fernandez leveller and a decisive strike by Lautaro Martinez in a 2-1 loss.

Tuchel noted that members of the public instead want to chat about watching fixtures like Mexico, the second-half display versus Croatia, or the tense clash with Congo.

Looking ahead, Tuchel has enacted eight modifications to his squad, a revamp highlighted by call-ups for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer.
