Tuch scores twice in his first game for Washington, helping the Capitals beat the Hurricanes 5-2

Alex Tuch made a memorable debut for Washington by netting two goals on Friday evening, powering the visiting side to a 5-2 victory over the reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. Veteran teammate Alex Ovechkin kicked off his 22nd campaign in the league by recording an assist on the opening strike during a dominant three-goal opening period for the victors.

Cole Hutson, Jakob Chychrun, and Ryan Leonard also contributed tallies for the winning squad, while goaltender Logan Thompson turned away 31 attempts to secure the win.

On the opposing side, Sebastian Aho and Logan Stankoven managed to find the back of the net for Carolina, and netminder Brandon Bussi blocked 22 shots during the contest. The defeat followed a narrow 1-0 overtime setback against Florida earlier in the week for the hosts.

Looking ahead to the next fixtures, the victorious squad prepares to face Tampa Bay, while the home team gets ready to travel for a matchup against Philadelphia.
