Legendary NFL analyst Troy Aikman’s future with the Miami Dolphins remains uncertain as his informal consulting role with the team lacks a formal agreement. According to reports, Aikman’s advisory work has been limited to the team’s offseason hirings of general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, with no clear plan for continuation beyond this season.
His contract with ESPN also expires in March, raising questions about whether he’ll pursue a full-time front-office position or seek new broadcasting opportunities. Complicating matters, the NFL’s tampering and gambling restrictions now apply to Aikman, limiting his access to Dolphins personnel in the lead-up to Monday Night Football games he calls—though he remains eligible to broadcast games involving the team.
Aikman has criticized the new rules as unnecessary, noting his role was hired partly for his unique access to insider information as a broadcaster. With no formalized arrangement in place and his ESPN deal set to end, the Dolphins’ next steps—and Aikman’s—remain unclear as both parties weigh their options.
