Hard-hitting Australian batsman Tim David is redirecting his focus toward 50-over cricket, planning a comeback in domestic one-day matches with Tasmania to thrust himself into contention for the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup squad. Approaching the format with serious intent, the 30-year-old hopes to address Australia's search for a reliable lower-order power-hitter following the retirement of Glenn Maxwell.
Tasmania head coach Jeff Vaughan confirmed that favorable scheduling alignments with David's franchise commitments finally made his domestic return possible.
David has not appeared in a List A fixture since playing four matches for Australia prior to the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he initially stepped in as an injury replacement for Maxwell. Despite a busy global franchise schedule and lacking a state contract, his recent limited-overs output includes two centuries and an unbeaten fifty across eight innings for Surrey, alongside previous stints representing Singapore and Tasmania.
