1st Women's ODI LIVE: Zimbabwe bat first in Vadodara, Jintimani Kalita debuts

The opening match of the Women's One Day International series between India and Zimbabwe got underway with the visiting side winning the toss and opting to bat first. Stand-in skipper Nomvelo Sibanda leads the touring side as regular leader Josephine Nkomo misses out due to a minor physical niggle, with the squad aiming to build upon their victory from last month.

For the hosts, Smriti Mandhana noted that batting first would have been her preference as well given the helpful conditions on offer. India handed a cap to Jintimani Kalita for her maiden ODI appearance, with the promising youngster entering the starting lineup in place of Renuka Singh following a strong stint with the India A squad.
