NAGOYA, Japan — Gulveer Singh completed a remarkable three-medal haul at the Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday, winning bronze in the men’s 5000m final to cap an extraordinary distance-running campaign in Nagoya.
Gulveer clocked 13:32.75 to finish third, behind Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew, who won gold in 13:30.79, and Japan’s Tomonori Yamaguchi, who took silver in 13:31.43.
The bronze completed Gulveer’s hat-trick of medals at these Games. He had earlier won silver in the men’s 10,000m, finishing in 28:29.38, before returning to claim another silver in the 1500m in 3:31.13.
With medals across the 10,000m, 1500m and 5000m, Gulveer became only the second Indian man and fourth Indian athlete to win three track-and-field medals at a single edition of the Asian Games. The other Indians to achieve three or more athletics medals in one Games were Lavy Pinto, PT Usha and KM Beenamol.
Gulveer's performance adds another major chapter to an already impressive 2026 season. His Asian Games campaign has demonstrated his ability to compete across a wide range of distances, from the 1500m to the 10,000m.
